Counting The Cost Of Calvary

From the Desk of Pastor Hatch…
“And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” Mark 8:34

“Counting The Cost Of Calvary”

Greetings Beloved:
Today we begin a series of messages moving on the road to Calvary with Christ. All along the way Satan tried to discourage Christ from fulfilling his mission. Satan does the same in our lives. Sometimes Satan uses people who are close to us, who care about us, to try to deter us. Because people are close to us, like Peter is to Jesus, it does not mean that they fully understand our personal mission. Don’t be angry at people, but rebuke the spirit behind their misguided words.

Christ shows how he sticks with the decision to obey the Father, even though obedience led Him to the cross. Christ shows that everything worthwhile has a cost. The greater value a thing has, the greater will be the cost. That which is most valuable will cost you everything you have.

Christ teaches us to count the cost by using the ways in which we value our valuables. If we would value our souls like we do our valuables, our currency, we would make better decisions. In Matthew 8:35-38 we are taught to count the cost by counting loses and gains, the profit motive, the exchange rate, and the law of contract. Satan has convinced a whole generation that we can have the world and the things of God too. That is never true. Folks following Satan always end up on the losing end. Following Christ cost, but what is gained is greater. To make the best decisions, always make sure that in all things what is gained is greater than what is lost.

I pray that you are faithful in the consecration. We have come too far to turn back now. Finish strong!

Peace and Blessings,

Pastor Hatch
